Lucianna Coelho: Singer-Songwriter

I’m Lucianna Coelho, though most know me as Lulu. Born in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, with roots stretching to the Seychelles islands, my journey with music began at 14 when my older sister would have me sing for her friends.

I cut my teeth in church, belting out gospel tunes that taught me the raw power of voice and spirit. From there, I embraced every stage I could find—weddings, local venues, you name it—mastering genres from soul to pop while keeping that fiery gospel heart.

When I moved to the U.S. for college, I dove headfirst into vocal performance, only to realize music theory and I weren’t exactly soulmates. I shifted gears but kept honing my craft through classical training, eventually joining bands that let me fuse my African heritage with every note.

Today, I channel my inner “BIG BLACK WOMAN”—that unapologetic, soul-shaking force born from my roots—to deliver those roof-raising high notes. My music isn’t just a performance; it’s a bridge between continents, a celebration of resilience, and a love letter to every version of myself that refused to stay small.
